The Flamingo Of The Garden

The best thing about this plant is that it is stunning even when it is not in bloom (some people might even like it better without the flowers). It does add some brightness to shady spots.
Looks really nice. I am in Minnesota and this is the first year in my house I am able to plant a garden. My mom had one when I was a kid.

sob, i just killed one of mine, by splitting it at the wrong time before a late frost. what's funny is that the split plant is doing well; the original is looking more dead every day. that'll teach me to split before may. anyway, i agree: the foliage is what makes this plant so great, as well as its ability to thrive in shade, and grow tall above other shade performers. get one if you can, but wait till late to split even the mature plants.
Nancy... actually it's prettier than what it looks in my picture.
Sheila... you're right; i like it when it first unfolds its foliage.
Marie... You would think hybridizing would produce more varieties than it has.
Mike... This plant would be quite hardy in Minnesota. Actually there's a lot of stuff I'd like to grow but our summers are too hot!
C.D. ... that's funny; I thought you could pretty much split them whenever you wanted, but I guess I haven't tried it for a long time.
