San Diego

We awoke back in Iowa this morning after a spending a few days in sunny San Diego; while there, one of the things we enjoyed was touring some of the gardens. The lath house in Balboa Park, shown above, was a lovely structure in a lovely setting, and filled with tropical plants, including lots of orchids in bloom. Softening our return from balmy southern California, is that temperatures here are to be in the 50's the rest of the week. I've never been a fan of white Christmases, so I'm quite happy... I must go out and check out the garden; with the warm weather, I suspect lots of bulbs are foolishly poking up their noses. Posted by Picasa

glad you are back, Don! I used to live 10 minutes from Balboa, in my younger days. (Daze)!
I loved it!!

I lived in San Diego for 6 years. What a paradise. Too bad I wasn’t all that interested in gardens back then because now I would love to visit some of their lovely and unique gardens. Something tells me that I may go back to San Diego one of these years.

Do you have anymore pictures of gardens you saw while in San Diego? If you do, I'd love to see them on your blog :-)

Sissy... Thanks; I'll bet in the winter, you miss S.D.

GDL... Alas and alack, i didn't take my own camera with me, and so just borrowed my SIL's camera to take a few pictures, so I don't have much more in the way of garden pics. i do have a few wild animal park pictures, and maybe I'll post those just for the heck of it.
