The hepaticas are all just starting to bloom, raising their delicate appearing flowers slowly from the leaf litter. Above is Hepatica insularis, an uncommonly cultivated species native to coastal Korea and the nearby islands. it is unusual in that it is deciduous in our climate, so it begins blooming before the leaves appear.
