Whome?

When a few days ago, I showed Sadie the cat rousting a deer from a flower bed, I thought it was probably a fluke, but maybe not. This morning I was hauling some bags of peat out to the garden, so had one of the gates open. As I was unloading the wheelbarrow, two deer; Nosy, and the infamous Whome sort of ambled right by me heading for the campanulas (their fave). Now it's one thing for the deer to slip into the garden, but when they just walk right by you, heading for the flower buffet, I get a little huffy. I opened a couple of gates and was going to chase them out, but Sadie beat me to it, chasing both of the deer across the garden and out the gate. Quite astonishing. Shown above is Whome on her regular rounds heading for the birdfeeder (she also answers to "Yes, I'm talking to you"!) Posted by Hello

Mmmm... Venison. Want me to stop by with a bow in October sometime?

Excellent photo, by the way. Too bad they are such pests, as they are awfully adorable.

Local to me, we just had a HUGE hoo-ha over a surgical strike on the deer that live in the nearby metropark.

There were so many of them, the rangers think they have eaten most of the understory... no spring flowers are returning in large parts of the park.

Of course, the public went nuts over how cruel this was. Sigh. Long slow death by starvation is so much better, I suppose.

Speechless... their friends ALREADY have me pegged as a soft touch... I don't swat spiders, I trap them and take them outside.

Jenn... you wouldn't need a bow, a stick would be all you'd need.

*Roaring with laughter*

I think you have that right.
Sigh.

Makes getting the meat so much harder when it walks up to you and licks your hand for the salt there...
