Deck Thingy
The last house we owned had a wrap-around deck, painted grey, and when coming home late at night in warm weather, we always were on the watch for what we called deck toads; small amphibians the size of a chocolate peanut cluster, that were also colored grey to blend in with the deck. These were always one of our favorite little critters, and my admiration for them has not diminished a whit after finding out they are not toads, but actually tree frogs, that also entertain us in late summer with their calls. We also see them at our present house, gamely trying to blend in with the siding of the house through color- changing camouflage.
