Primula vulgaris ssp. sibthorpii, is the first primrose to fully open... in a matter of days, even in cold, dark weather, it just seems to race to get its flowers open, vying to be the first primrose to tempt the early bees. This is probably my single favorite primrose; it is bone-hardy, very early, and much more natural looking in a woodland garden, with its smaller, soft lilac flowers. Posted by Picasa
