Iowa Winter
Winter came blowing into our garden today,
an unbidden guest, but planning to stay.
So I'm planting bulbs with a sharpened spade,
knowing they're nature's promises made;
that someday the robin will wake to sing,
and sullen winter will give way to spring.
Then this fall's hard work will begin to pay,
as the flowers all bloom brightly in jolly May.
an unbidden guest, but planning to stay.
So I'm planting bulbs with a sharpened spade,
knowing they're nature's promises made;
that someday the robin will wake to sing,
and sullen winter will give way to spring.
Then this fall's hard work will begin to pay,
as the flowers all bloom brightly in jolly May.
